About Ohlone

Ohlone Elementary School is a Palo Alto Unified School District alternative school with voluntary enrollment from throughout the district. Ohlone adopted an “open education” approach in 1976 and has since gained wide recognition as an innovative school.

Ohlone focuses on the process of learning and strives to produce alumni who:

• seek opportunities to continue learning
• can develop strong positive social interactions
• can make decisions and take responsibility for the resulting outcomes
• are able to discover and draw on all available resources
• are well-rounded individuals
